If the car is upto scratch then you will be able to enter the PRO class. Most will be Club Class though

Rishi

ol bollox! when i filled form in, ive entered for pro class:doh: not gonna get me very far, best i get that 3071r tubby sorted asap lol

and fair play to you rishi, at least your having a crack at it!

its the participating and giving your all that counts (doesnt matter what car you drive)!
if you come off track and personally know that you could have gone no quicker round that bend, then you can drive home with pride, and after all its about trying to beat some of the big boys with big wallets, thats where the buzz lies8) being out there and doing it on ltd resources and funds, thats the fun part:thumbsup:

Correct Suspension, Diffs, ARB etc will certainly transform the cars handling.
from something god awful to abit better, a gtir is badly designed for a circuit/track/good handling car.

no amount of wishful thinking will make it on par with anything built in the last 10 years that has similar suspension mods/power as you're proposing.

its not even about trying, its about being realistic

Still waiting on some shims!
Will give it a go anyway. See how the season goes. May just enter the Noble if the GTiR doesn't work out..

probably be best, although a decent evo will spank that aswell
Quick trip to Plan Motorsport or Gary@Crazy Horses would fix that! :p

If all else fails i'll just have to quit and buy an EVO9:doh:    Although i'd rather beat them then join them!

This also means i have to swap out the TEIN's for something better. ;-)
4 grands worth of Proflex suspension should do it i reckon ;-) Even then it probably still wouldnt be that good

Rishi

Still waiting on some shims!
Proflex or Intrax apparently...

So why are all you lot throwing all this money at a car you all think is shit and has no chance in competing?

I don't see why the pulsar can't compete with the rest of the machinery that enter into the time attack, yes cars that are 10 years or younger will have better setups than the pulsar as standard, but stuff like this can easily be sorted with a few tweaks here and there.

I think the pulsar will put up a really good challenge, and with a good driver and a sorted car, i dont see why it can't even break a few times if the car is built for the track.

If they have a prize for looking well groomed and being the best poser on track then Rishi has it won hands down      .

He's turned admiring yourself in shop windows as you drive up and down the local high street in to an olympic sport       .

you have hit the nail on the head there scotty:thumbsup:although i dont think neither of us are good enough to break any records, but i can only speak for myself, not rishi!

ive been through all this in the past with bikes and bike setup! 'you have to have ohlins, you have to have this, you have to have that'
it helps yes! but in reality it comes down to the rider or driver:roll:

my suzuki gsxr750 was more than a match for a lot of r1s gsxr1000s and zx10s and i was far from being an excellent rider;-)but i whipped a lot of there asses!
arguements i used to have down the pub with my so called racing buddies that il never do anything on basically a standard setup...total bollox as i proved to some of them on track!

if you gave my standard bike to a real good rider like rossi for example and put my mates on track 'who all race semi professional' with there 10k+ setups, then who would your money be on? well il tell you's all now! rossi would wipe the floor with all of them, and probably lap them a couple of times for good measure, just to really rub it in8)

some of you's are having a little sly dig at myself and rishi (ive never met the guy)and for what? because were prepared to have a go? why bother entering? whats the point, as we will finish last for sure! will we bollox;-)
but as i said before, at least he has the balls to get off his ass and have a go, which i do admire!
theres too many people out there willing to slate others and there / your cars,;-) saying i could have done better than that and so forth, which lets face it, is a shite attitude to have, UNLESS you prove it!

just take our calibra mate for example, all mouth and nothing to back his big gob up with, makes me sick! people like him are gutless little scrotes that need putting in place!

rishi pointed out earlier that if you think the cars shite, then sell it, go buy yourself an evo or whatever:roll: whats the point on spending thousands on something thats never gonna be good enough in your eyes??? your either all mad or stupid!

it just really pi55es me off, when people get slated for trying to achieve something, thats why this country is so so fcuked up:evil:
i will tell you's all now, that the crappy little nissan sunny in the hands of a good professional driver is more than a match for any evo driven by a driver who thinks he's good, and that is the FACT of it!
i truly hope that one of us is good enough to make an impact on this event, and then i will come back and rib you fcukers to the end of the earth that have slated us and our / your cars that you are supposed to worship with all the monies that you spend on them:lol:
SUPPORT the fella, dont put him down, for what his aiming to achieve!;-)

I think what bob said is right if the right set up is found then you have a very good chance of a win. Ok the pro class is full of "tuner" cars but as seen from last year the winner`s of some of the other rounds were non tuner cars .

Also i dont think this is about out right BHP either ok n***is had what 800+hp but how did he do this year not the best spent more time on the green stuff then the black stuff:roll:.

chassie setup is the key to this that why the litchfield car did so well ok it did have 500bhp but the way the guy set this car up was it key.

thats why im haveing are shell dipped and seem welded also full roll cage even mounting it to the front strut towers:thumbsup:

i think you need to get off your soapbox bob and remove your pulsar tinted spectacles

its obvious who your post is aimed at

the pulsar has god awful weight distribution, you cant get away from that, that in itself makes it handle like a piece of poo, sure bracpan does well enough in hill climbs but i bet he'd do even better in something that actually handled well in the first place.

once again you use your pointless comparisson between a shit hot driver in a poor car against a rubbish driver in a good car, put the same shit hot driver in both cars and which one goes quicker ?

yep the good car !

the pulsar makes a good affordable turbo 4x4 car, although to do anything usefull with it it soon becomes costly, as a winning contender it doesn't really cut the mustard these days and tbh it never did in its day either.

well seeing as god himself  and his new disciple  have said it, i best get on with selling my 2 then  has it not crossed your mind that theres people that really like gtirs but are intelligent enough to realise their limitations and blatantly obvious faults and arent going to sit here joining in with the bullshit bravado and nonsense ?

it just really pi55es me off, when people get slated for trying to achieve something, thats why this country is so so fcuked up:evil:
pointing out the obvious isn't slating anyone, i hope you both do well, but im not going to sit here saying 'one of you could be the uk time attack champion' cos it isn't going to happen,

Exactly, there is no way anybody would ever finish in the top 5 of time attack with a pulsar let alone win anything  Thats not being negative, just realistic ;-)

I'll be hillclimbing mine next year and in the class im in i'll be up against a couple other R's (1 with a great deal more power than mine  ) and some evo's and escort cossies. I know handling wise my car will be at a disadvantage so ive just gotta hope that the massive brakes ive fitted and my drive it like you stole it with no mechanical sympathy whatsoever approach can make up for it

If i was serious about winning everything id have f**ked my Sunny off and bought an evo by now ;-)

exactly mark.

we all have our reasons for owning the gtir.

i just dont see where this thinking its the one of the worlds greatest cars attitude comes from tbh

ok kieron, first of all it was only partially aimed at your comments!
two pm's i recieved is the main reason, and you's two know who you are;-)

secondly im not rishi's disciple 'i only speak on my own behalf' hes a big boy he can defend himself!

now lets get down to business.
the driver of the car is 70% car is 30% thats why im posting this post!
yes if you had a better car with the same driver then your right he will be faster in the better setup car. but if that were the case in reality then why doesnt everyone have exactly the same car?
because not everyone can afford that better car, and has to make do with what they got!
i'd like a 3071r turbo and a quaiffe g/box amongst other things, but i simply cant afford them, so i'l have to make the best of what ive got!

ive driven the pulsar on track (when standard) and without being big headed, ive taken out race prepped scoobys and evos, which is why i decided to race the car in the first place, perhaps i was just plain lucky to do so, and on another day they would whoop my hide, 'i just dont know' ive owned a cossie which has been on track as well as a scooby, and i have done a faster lap time in a standard gtir

and your right again! it is costly, to make competitive, but who said anything about being the next time attack champion???
i race because i enjoy the competitiveness of it, i will never win, im too old and too big to do that!
but motorsport is about the taking part, the banter, and the fun of it! if you get a podium finish then all well and good, but if not then so what, as long as you,ve had fun trying!

as i previously stated: ive had all this before with the bikes, its oh so easy to put someone down if they finish last, but that person sitting in there armchair or watching from the stands that says 'look at him, what a load of shite' should really get out there and prove that they can do better;-) and that is what pi55es me off!

one thing i will tell you all! is that i will not win anything:shock: but it wont be for the want of not trying, i will drive my heart out to finish with as fast a lap time as i possibly can, and if anyone thinks im wearing rose tinted glasses or whatever, well then, so be it!

they must've been being driven by maureen rees or whatever her name was

with the same driver and all things being equivalent a standard pulsar wouldn't touch either of the above 2 mentioned cars if they were in standard form let alone if they had any sort of prep on them.

some one put a thread on here with a vid of a pulsar in japland going against some other cars, thats probably the best display of what the pulsar is capable of in near standard form....not alot

no your right kieron, driven by mcdonalds eating 17 year olds, that never had enough money to race last season, dont know why they bothered spending thousands to set there cars up, my granny could have taken them out on her mobility scooter:lol:

1minute 54sec lap on full curcuit of cadwell (standard sunny) which i will better in feb on track day at same place;-) with witnesses, times speak all languages and thats a very good time!
nothing will sway my opinion:-D

i honestly hope you do well bob next year.

i just dont have this opinion that the gtir is a fantastic car like so many owners do, i like it for what it is and im not interested in any other cars anyways tbh
