    Although the 3071 is a great turbo it will be no good for the power he's looking for, the 3037 or a 3076 (I believe there pretty much the same turbo?) should provide the 350atw he's looking for at around 1.5bar boost which the std pistons might be able to handle and the 400atw with 2bar when/if...

    The great thing about the R pistons being fairly weak is you can afford to risk trying to run big hp on them as when they do fail, its only normally the ringland that breaks and you loose compression but very little other damage is caused, so you could fit your big turbo, injectors, ecu etc and...

    No you don't need the timing marks on the chain to time it up, just the ones on the crank pulley. Heres a guide I did a while ago. Line the crankshaft pulley upto the tdc mark on it (the second one from the rear) then put the exhaust cam so the woodruff key slot is pointing directly...

    A actuator designed for a 2wd ford sierra cosworth is the same, which should be easier to get for you. you need a -31 for std boost or a -34 if you want to run over 1 bar.
