I have booked this. Will be my first opertunity to test and setup the car after all the repairs and upgrades.
This would be a great opertunity for you to get your car on track under safe and controlled conditions.
A very relaxed, friendly bunch that take part and have a great time.

More information below:

Track Scotland are running a track afternoon on Saturday 13th November 2010.

It will be run from 12pm to 4pm.

* Open Pit lane with passing on the left (on straights) only.
* £100 per CAR, extra drivers are Free.
* The sessions will be fully marshaled by Knockhill staff, with any dangerous driving black flagged.
* Helmets are compulsory, but can be hired on site.

Can you come along and spectate, couldnt see any info if you could or couldnt?

I would track mine again but I see theres some seriously fast motors all ready signed up so no point in tracking mines until I get some 16's and some decent tyres and dump the 17's and Paradas as I'd be more a road block than anything!

ive got paradas on my ST, I found them to be pretty good in the dry, not so good in the wet. I should be back in an R soon, I wouldnt mind popping up for a wee look!

I had my R on track at Knockhill end of last month Rich, the Paradas were overheating within a couple of laps and it just simply didnt have the grip to keep up with even lightly tuned scoobys and Corsas on R888's, was pretty embarassing to be honest!

Was probably about the 2nd fastest thing in a straight line that day right enough but what with my crunching 2nd gear which gave me serious confidence and stability issues going into the hairpin and the handling being poor overall it didnt perform very well.

I think going down to 16's, lowering the car and fitting some more track specific tyres would certainly help things and take some serious time off the laptime, but for now I simply dont have the cash.

If your able to spectate then I would probably come along as its not far down the road from me, well 30 odd miles.

I have just posted the question regarding spectators on TS forum.... I have a feelings you will be welcome to spectate and come and go as you please, free of charge. Hope to see some of you guys there! Will update.

I agree with you tyre issue John.... only wish I had taken some pictures of them on the day... You will notice a big difference when you fit something more suited to 350+ bhp... ;-)
Should not let the line up of motor put you off.... Nice cool November track should really suit the R.

This was after about being on the track 3mins and coming back in after a red flag:



As you can see, not in the best knick and that was about as healthy as they looked all day!

If your able to spectate then I will probably come along, I dont see why you wouldnt be able to as I could simply be go karting and decide to walk across to the hairpin and spectate as an example.

ouch.... yes, that's what I remember... not too good!

Regarding spectating... all looks good... here's the reply:

"Scott,

Spectators are free to enter. Passengers are free too, just need to sign the disclaimer at sign-on."

Im still pretty tempted to come along and have a watch, however Rangers are playing at home on the same time and I dont want to miss another game on my season ticket!

Think the decision will be weather dependant, if its pouring rain I'll give it a miss as I dont fancy getting soaked and seeing very little, however if its dry then I would say I would be there.

The more the merrier...... would be good to meet people.
The session is fully booked now with 60+ cars due on track, 30 at a time.... Some of which are pretty high spec.
I noticed Dave Bull (Dragmera) will be there testing his 400+ whp Almera.
If anybody still wants to join in, they have started a reserve list as some people will drop out.

Probably see all four seasons of weather through the course of the day. I've tracked before at KH in Nov and they had close the track early as ice was forming... Some nice cool intake air though... Glad I put my heater fans back in the car.

To the price they have got the track for :)

As paid 120 for a full day open pit lane and lunch for 60 plus cars at the start of last month :)

Yeah it is quite pricey, I essentially paid 38 quid for 2 hours open pitlane at the BDC and there must of only been about 15 cars in the first hour and 25 in the second.

Could turn into a nice mini meet of 4 or 5 cars at this rate.

Would people be interested in a trackday next year, much like is organised for our English members but up here in Scotland, so hopefully subsidised for paying memners?

Just putting the idea out there since its really difficult to get any sort of meet organised with our limit numbers and large geographical spread!

Fair play Davie.... I needed an open pit session to test and set the car up. May be in an out quite a bit. I was tempted to book onto Speed Sunday on the 7th Nov but that could jeopardize the 13th if I break something.
Hope to see you on the 13th... :thumbsup:

Aye John, adams and Fees events are a bit pricey, but always ends up a good day out. Good bit of banter, and no Knob heads out on track either :)

Deffo be up for a track day, cant beat a good day out on track up at the hill.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, hail, rain or shine!
Car's on transporter now and I have packed some tools. Trolley jack, socket set, crackbar, lubes, pads, a variety of fixings and gaffer tape.
A bit consered about how low the AM Performance downpipe sits. I bottomed out a couple of times when I tested the car a few days ago.
I fitted a bumper protector hoping that would sit lower than downpipe but it did not so I have fitted an alloy bar from bumper tray to 4 point brace to act as a skid.... fingers crossed.

What a day..... car was great! I took all sorts of spares and tools and needed none of them dispite my spirited driving. Wet slippy conditions put less strain on the car.
Mapping felt good and I certainly noticed the added power. Was difficult to sink the right foot without loosing traction.
Managed to spin out once and had many a slip in between. The conditions were interesting. Start was cold and wet then a one hour delay due to a huge oil spil that covered half track distance which made for interesting driving then very heavy rain resulting in standing water and very poor visability. Modena front LSD provided good front end grip but it was also helping to make the rear step out. Think I was also running too stiff on the rear ARB. I dropped rear tyre preasure from 29 to 26psi but that made little difference. I will change rear ARB from stiffest to softest and soften the damping. May get a chance to try the changes on 5th Dec on a speed sunday session at KH.
I'll post vids up asap.... watching recorded F1 quali' now and looking forward to tomorrows F1... ;-)

Here is a short trackside vid where you can see a real mix of cars... A few seconds into the vid, you can see Dave Bull (dragmera) in his Almera turning on the power up the home straight... Think he was running close to 500bhp and grip was a real issue with him... lol.
