Knackered Fuel Pump??

What are the tell-tale signs of a Fuel Pump being on its way out??
My 'R does not like it at all when I try to accelerate & it comes on boost (in any gear), to the point where it feels like it hits a brick wall performance-wise and in some cases even cuts out completely. It's had a new fuel filter, plugs, leads, dizzy cap & rotor arm and still no joy :frusty: Does a new Fuel Pump sound like a sensible next step or has anyone got any other suggestions what could be at fault?? :cry:

Just to add to the symptoms of what my car is doing aswell which I forgot to put in my 1st post, when I planted my foot in 2nd gear earlier today it just let out an extremely loud backfire and black smoked??!!

What boost are you supposed to be running?

What plugs and gaps are you running?

Have you checked all the boost hoses for leaks/security, missing wastegate hose ect?

Do a fault code check. There's a sticky at the top of this section.
