for 400bhp you wont be needing a re-build  Turbo, injectors, z32 maf or map sensor and decent management with good mapping and away you go..

dont you listen to anything thats gets said on here

standard engines will take 400+bhp if tuned correctly 8)

jimmy, if its rattley on top end you will need new shims, you wont be able to order them until the tolerances are checked as you wont know what size you need :(

just ring mike at mjp and tell him you're rebuilding a gtir and want everything (excluding pistons, rings, rods, headgasket , crank ) required to make it better than new...

make sure you're sat down before you ring him

How did I get dragged into this :?:

Anyway, here’s what I got for mine. All prices are approx.

Custom cams (272 duration with 11.5mm lift) and vernier pulleys @ £600
4 shims @ £72
Custom turbo spec’d for 450bhp @ £900
Forged pulley kit @ £200
Head studs and caps @ £200
1.2mm head gasket @ £100
87mm Forged JE pistons @ £400
ARP Rod bolts @ £50
Lighten and balanced bottom end and knife edged crank @ £400
Balanced con rods with pistons and ARP rod bolts
Balanced flywheel
New water pump @ £42
New oil pump gears @ £80
New hoses on back of block (6 in total) @ £55
New chain @ £80
New chain tensioner @ £40
New chain guides @ ?
All new bearings, mains, small and big ends = £100
Engine gasket set @ £150
All new nuts and bolts around the engine both internal and external @ ?
Helix racing organic clutch @ £400
New various s/s hoses and pipes @ ?
Solid engine mounts @ £150
New various uprated bushes, power steering, anti roll bar, gear shifter, anti lift kit etc, @ ?
Gear box rebuild @ £200
Sard Fuel Pressure regulator @ £145
Then there’s the labour on top for the rebuild!!

Things still on my shopping list are:

Power FC Pro
600cc Injectors
Z32 MAF
Setting up to 1.6 bar to run 400+ bhp @ ???

As Kieron has said 400bhp can be done on stock pistons but the fueling has to be 100% spot on. The yanks have been doing this for ages now.

who can tune a car for that then in UK??
What you mean stock internals for 400bhp!?!? NO ONE as, no UK tuner would have the bottle/balls/knowledge to do it in case the engine goes pop! The only places are The States and possibly Aus/NZ but I think they prefer forged internals.

If you do a search on here there was a thread about big BHP on stock internals. Another place to look is the SR20 forums in America.

Dp motorsport
Rc developments
The dentist
Will all tune/map your car for 400hp+ on a standard engine obviously it wouldn't be warrantied but they'll do it at your own risk.
