tried to boot it infront showed him my big 0.7bar and i nearly hit the back of him. LOl into seconds gear the road opened into two lanes i boot it and i was level and by about 6k rpm i was about a car length ahead. Stopped at a set of light and he asked me what i was running i said a goose and a filter. He said he had a full system with a remap. He was well gutted to say the least. :D

Im not really into Cossies. Have beaten a few. Dont come across them very often though.

"Used Car Buyer" magazine tested a Evo 4, a Scooby WRX STi, A Escort Cosworth and a Celica GT4 ST205 about 18 months ago.

They preferred the GT4 to the others for plenty of reasons.

I will try and find someone who has the pages and upload them.

Its a shame the Pulsar wasnt there also. (Saying that, I think it was a "Rally Legends" line up  ) It still would have been nice to get another 2.0L 4WD car in the line up.

Gt4's dont even rate with the others, even the st205's. They are a very nice car but just not as quick. My mate had a couple of 205's and even at 20 pounds boost they were big cruisers. And as for the mag review theres no point talking about standard cars anyway, because £2000 on a cossie will see it to 350bhp. Barely get ya to 280 on the rest.
Ill try to get a scan of a review I have of Sunny gtir, escort cos, sierra cos, gt4 185, legacy, mazda 323t, delta HF 16v, and a galant vr4. Escort got best overall write-up, sunny was quickest of the bunch, and GT4 slowest. But like I say standard car reviews arnt much use.

Quickest car ive ever been in! Approx 370bhp 4x4. Would make an RS6 look like a toy and im not kidding. I know its not gonna be as fast over a quarter as a well tuned R, but I cant afford to pump much money into tuning my R and as it sits this thing runs a 12.9 sec quarter @ pod and does 160mph in what feels like no time at all. Its the new year plan if all goes well, but if not im happy enough with the R anyway.

Mate of mine had a ST205 wasnt impressed now has a Teg type R and his bro has a standard GTi-R and he said the R was the quickiest thou if the type R could get grip it would be close.

And like dooie says a little well spent money and you have rocket (quick but volatile)

Was it the GT4 that got Toyota banned for cheating? I know one of them made a way around the restrictor

They are good for pointing out that a standard Gtir can do 60 in about 5.3, (CLICKY) or 5.1 CLICKY but then no use when everyone ignores that review and quotes a review where the Gtir had either problems or a duff driver and ran a 6.1

Yep like i said it was on reading an article about the R and it's 0-60's why i went for it and why i stopped laughing at the guy with a dakar who was near to me as i thought he had chaved a GTi up like that

How can you say that? The mag review was on standard cars. The ST205 blitzed the other cars on build quality and equalled them on performance. Up the boost on a standard turbo on a GT4 and get something like a power FC and it will easy see over 300bhp. As for the 185, I wasnt even talking about that, we all know they are lardy as hell and only see a little over 200bhp.

Which GT4 was this one then? (cos it's well slow)

Unless you get 2 cars the same power, weight and gearing etc etc, there's never going to be a fair comparison as there's so many variables?
