Think you'll find that not quite true mate... Myself, Bruce, Simon Norris, ECC, Fensport all use the SuperClutch...

OK, I'll be more specific. I meant on Gtirs until now, nothing else (as we were only talking about Gtirs :nerner: ) and yes I know the Bear is going triple plate (I think it was that anyway)

My clutch did exactley the same after 3000 miles, I am having my box repaired at the moment and will then be fitting the upgraded O.S Giken Twin plate with the sprung centre.

the clutches that have gone like this where they being used on a standard gear set?, if so it might be that with an uprated gearset you tend to get an uprated input shaft made from a better metal. could be the cause, as if the splines on the shaft fail it would damage the plate splines aswell. just an idea.

hi !

the shaft is not weak - its the clutch.
and yes,gearbox was standard.
is most cases the shaft stays ok.
so its seems harder than the discs.

here is what i got from an os giken dealer:
what do you think about this?

------------------------------
The problem appears to be with the RNN14 gear box
and the input shaft in particular

The gear boxes have a tendency to exhibit what is called backlash”

That is where the input shaft rotates when the car is driven but
it rotates with a sharp snatching movement

It is difficult to translate but I will try my best

If an input shaft normally rotates clockwise when driven the RNN14
has a movement in the input shaft counter clock wise direction BEFORE it
suddenly rotates very fast in the clockwise direction

This causes excessive force and wear on the spines of the clutch which
is what has happened to your clutch

bye.

hi !

@Crazy

is the sprung centre type the one with the springs in the discs ?
why do you think they will not cause the same problem ?

thank you

Maybe because the sprung plates could possibly take up this backlash that they where on about in the reply that was sent to you.....
