I've got a Mocal 13 row cooler mounted behind the N/S brake duct in the bumper, I don't have a themostat in the sandwitch plate & my oil temp takes only 5-10mins of driving to register 80 deg C.Even at hard track days the temp never gets above 110 deg C.

how the hell do you stop all the oil running back to the sump when the car is standing.....now i start it up, as there's loads of additional oil sat on the engine the pressure rockets to 6.....then as soon as the engine hits temp (80), the valve opens, fills the system with oil, then pressure drops right back down to 2
Can you get hold of one way valves to fit in the oil line to stop it draining to the sump?

Oil pressure of 6 is normal on alot of cars when starting. It's due to the thickness of the oil when cold, not the amount of oil in the sump.

Is your thermo stat a fully open/closed one, not an always partially open one like described above? If it is, try changing it for a partially open one.
