best people for gearbox re-build?

in yorkshire area best people for a re-build? bought a gearbox off e-bay and does'nt go in to 3rd or sound healthly at all, can hear it through ever gear,, how likley is it for the transfer box to fail?

I've only heard of 3 or 4 transfer boxes go in the time I've had my Gtir (5 years coming up)

Could be a bust selector fork.

It might be worth pulling the gearcase off to have a look before you send it off.

it just does'nt sound right in any of the gears, just setting off in first its thud thud thud and 3rd just wont have it

if its a thud in 1st the main shaft in box has snapped its a rebuild im afraid.

second this guy, he's done a few boxes for me and i've not had a problem with them.

Pete in Southport is well known and respected amongst the Cosworth community. Many GTIROC memebers go to Bernie. I wasn't getting into a "My gearbox builder is better than yours" debate, just giving another option as you're a Northener.

Andy is a sheep so sent his box down south even though we've got a perfectly good builder in the NW :der: ;-) ;-) :lol: :lol:

Leeds is 2 hours from Southport so you could drop it off yourself. Otherwise, stick on to a pallet and send it to whomever can fit you in. Any decent specialist will have a wait list for a couple of weeks. By reputation I don't think you'll have any quality problems with either of them.

Their isn't a lot to go wrong with a transfer box apparently so I probably wouldn't bother, I'm just a bit anal so I got mine done while it was all out.
