Try importing a car into the uk, you have to pay 20% vat and a further 10% import duty on top of that on the invoice price.....so on say £3k that is £600 vat + £360 import duty.

thats the same here but depends on price and age as the gtir is over ten years old it doesnt count for import tax

Seems like it has been up for sale many times too in the past.

Not really mate, it was bought new by The Daily Mail ( I have the invoice ) and first registered 1/11/92, won by a guy who kept it for 5 days, then bought by a guy on 5/11/92 who kept it until 2010 when it was sold to a trader at a Bonhams auction. The trader couldn't shift it for £7k plus, dropped the price to £6k and planned to put it into the auction above. I came along in the meantime and bought it so it was removed from the auction. Thus it's had 3 owners including me and only been for sale once in 1992, once in 2010 and again in early 2011 by the dealer who acquired it in 2010......
