Rebuild gearbox in car

Is it possible to rebuild gearbox while it still in car? I have know poeple to do it on the fwd. Reason being my transmission wont go into 2nd every gear aside from that is fine.

So now i have decided to just replace full gear stacks with know good gear from another tranny while trans in still in car.
