Rear Speakers

Right, managed to shove a new HU in the R and some Alpine 6.5"s in the doors..after a lot of pain

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions about rear speakers?

The standard fit items (i guess) are Kenwood NKF-1600's 5.5x5.5"? they are shit to say the least. Just need something to replace them with. I have no parcel shelf so they must fit in the side shelves.

P.s I know squat about 'ICE' and am slightly concerned about the speaker size-is it unusual?

Cheers

You'll be able to get some 13cm's in the back, don't go for dual cone as they're smeg on toast, get some components. Anywhere will sell you 13cm's :D

 Read line 4 of my first post again! I don't have a parcel shelf....or rear interior for that matter! :D

Whats wrong with dual cone?
The way i see it speakers can be designed to carry low medium or high notes.Surely a speaker which can deal with two types( ie dual) at once are better? I have always had 6x9s in my other cars which are great in they carry all three? Don't think there is room on those little shelves though :(

So any good quality 13" component will be enough? The fronts are only 'ok' need most of the sound to be carried by the back speakers.

Hmmm, let me check EBAY....

If you've got no parcel shelf, whatever you fit is going to sound a bit lame

Rear speakers are not really worth buying in my opinion. It's much better to get Components for the front and a good quality Sub at the back, with both the Sub and Components being powered by individual Amplifiers.

if you have stripped you interior then you worried about weight :? maybe you should remove the stereo and speakers, save some money and lighten the load

Have you ever stripped the rear interior out? It makes the Goose sound like its sat on your lap and firing up into your brain (quite loud in other words)

Need something to help drown it out....sometimes

I realise taking the parcel shelf out is detrimental to how the stereo will sound, but having no rear seats makes it redundant anyway.

Found some Vibe components and Pioneer components on Ebay...which is best? Both similiar in spec.

13cm not 13" :D

in reply to your above comment on 2way being better than components, they aren't basically, when you get something thats 13cm trying to replicate bass, mid and high all from the same source it sounds pap, components split the sounds up and let each bit do what its best at, the woofer will create the mid and the tweeter will create the high end stuff, leave any bass to a sub, and don't get 6x9's as they are as chavtastically crap as peeing into the wind. If you want anymore help PM me, i know my ICE.

 That told me! So its Pioneer comps for a stress free life.

Cheers

I've got 8" phase linear alliante with dynaudio crossovers and tweeters
in the rear side panels so you can fit pretty much anything if you want to do a little bit of work.

turn it up good and loud

iv got a turbo back 3inch exhaust and tbh it makes the goose sound pathetic  i only put the interior back in to make room in the garage

besides, im with Sunny Scott on this. iv been advised by a car install specialist that only the bass should go in the back :p the components go in the front
