rear diff problem?

How do u know if the rear diff is fooked? my rear diff seems to clunk when i change gear anyone know why this is?

There is always a little play in the rear diff and sometimes i hear it on mine from stand still but if this clunk happens all the time id say the rear diff has a little to much play :?

the rear diff should not 'clunk' at all unless it foo.ked!

Mines never made a noise and have only ever been in 1 R that had a noisy rear diff (it was found to be foo.ked!)

Thats because your car hasn't been on the road for three years or so lol :lol:

Mine only does it if i lift the clutch reasonably quick, the majority will have a bit of slap its just if its excessive.

It clunks on gear changes and its worse when changing in lower gears.
Is it fooked?

Ya it sounds like it is fella. Mines never made a noise. You can pick a 2nd hand one for 50 notes

if it makes a knock when you let the clutch up thats just the excessive backlash on the diff gears being taken up, doesnt necesarily mean the diff is foooked, just a little worn
