power steering pump

just wondering if anyone has removed it from the car? i want to ditch it, save some weight!! the aircon is going as well :)

sorry what i should have asked is - has anyone removed it and thought it was ok without the pump? if its a bitch to drive i'll just leave it on

the steering system is made to work with powersteering.
so it wouldnt bother. may go wrong.
and a steering made for powersteer wont be like a car made without to drive.

dude if you leave the rack on the car after taking the power steering pump off.

then your car will fail the mot because the power steering system would be incomplete.

and yes the steering would be a tad stiff

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: you'd have to be pumping iron for weeks before you could drive it with no p/s pump

Also the belt tensioner is on the p/s pump assembly, so you'll need to find someway to keep this.
I've lost a good 50kg off my car by replacing things with lighter things :) The aircon is the only thing I've taken off so far :wink:
