Outside Head Bolt

Hiya,

Have found that the outside head bolt near the dizzy end of the head is stripped. The bolt is M6 and about 50mm long. Anyone know if i can drill 6.8mm and re tapp M8? If so, ill drill the lug on the head 8mm dia and slightly open the bolt hole up on the new HG

any thoughts guys.

you can easily helicoil it to original size

Ill,look into the helicoil option. Never used it before.....lol. howdo they actually work? Do I have to drill out first or just install using the insert tool / instructions

You have to overdrill the hole and cut a new thread, then the helicoil goes in and provides the original fitment.

the helicoil kit comes with a drill bit, taps, helicoil and inserting tool

You need to drill the hole with the provided drill bit, taps it, and insert the helicoil.


Just make sure you drill the hole 90deg to the surface.
