moving the air filter

not sure if any one has done this, but im thinking of moving the air filter to behind the front bumper in the wheel arch space as there should be plenty of cool air there, going to be drilling the chassie leg and inserting a stainless steel sleave through the leg and fit filter on one side and air flow meter on the other side of the chassie.

has any one attempted this in the past,

drillin big holes in any part of the main structure of a car seems alittle doddgy to me mate.;-)

because where the air filter is at the mo theres to much heat and no where ner enough cool air,
also the engine isnt in a pulsar, its in a almera

no room in the boot, subs etc, plus with the bonnet not being vented still think it might draw to much hot air in
