Motec Tuning NW...

Since I have moved and have (hopefully) stopped working 24/7, I now want to get the R out of storage. Only one problem I forgot to take a copy of the Motec map before I diconnected the battery

So anyone recomend a Motec tuner in the North West Preston area? Also any comment on using an old map. I have found one given to me by the previous owner but not sure how "close" it is. So will this be worse than the std settings????

Yow V how’s tricks?

I’m afraid I’ve move "up north" so no more castle coombe days for me really. Infact for almost 6 months it’s been no R as I have to travel to Liverpool every day.... boo hiss.

Anyway, I’m embarrassed to say this (but it may maker a difference) ...car was sat for 3 weeks while I was busy working over Christmas and the battery drained to zip... removed the battery and the car has been sat for 3 months.

Got another battery in it at the weekend and it feels like its now lost power and is backfiring like a beast.

Any other ideas?

Hi mate I think I'v beaten you in the moveing stakes as I now live
near Aberdeen .

As for the motec mines been off the batt for 8 month's now and I was
told today by powerstation this would have no ill effect as the motec
would not loose it's memory 8).

It could be a lot of things because car's don't really like being left
unused for a long time, Have you checked the leads/plugs also what
about the fuel is it the same stuff you parked it up with because that
can go off, plus the dissy cap could do with a clean up or better still
replacement.

good hunting mate.

PS you could try unpluging the motec and then
plug it in again just to make sure of the conection.

get suitable container ! remove the fuel hose at the regulator (inlet hose) at the end of fuel rail then bypass/bridge fuel relay. which will start pump. wait till all fuel come out then switch off. i doubt it the fuel which is cuasing it. what condition are the plugs like? does it have compression? need more info to exactly whats occuring.

Just for future reference mate, the nearest dealer who maps motecs is RC developments in Warrington (i think) or Jon Noble in Chesterfield.

Cheers.

Sweeny,
Cheers for the motec info.

zia,
I agree with you that the fuel should not have gone off in such a short amount of time, but wanted to know how to do this so I can add it as the last job on my list. All plugs, leads, filters etc were changed in Sept. Since then the engine was out at HiTeq ran the car for about 100 miles and I just parked it so all "should" be OK.

Will be doing a full set of checks this weekend though and will produce an "idiots guide" to doing checks to post up for anyone else like me who is not that mechanically minded.
