how to wire in a flashing l.e.d??

does any one know how do wire this in?

I want the led to flash when the engine is off, so i dont get the flashing at night when i am driving.

I dont want to use a switch that i have to press my self.

does any one know how to do this?

If it is a 12V LED, you can wire the positive side straight to the battery, and the negative to the +12V of the ignition barrel ( or anywhere that has a switched positive. )

Normally when you switch off this 12v supply is shorted to ground. Just test by making sure that its 12V with the ignition on but a short circuit to earth when switched off.

Having 12V on both sides of the LED when the igntion is switched on is fine, it wont do any damage. When you switch the ignition off, one side is shorted to earth and the LED lights up.
