High pitch whine only under load.

Hello all,

Another Aussie here :)

I've got a problem with my car. When ever I put my foot down hard it makes this high pitch whine noise but it doesn't do it in neutral.

Could a low oil level in the gearbox cause this? As my gearbox breather hose isn't connected.

Cheers,
Steve.

Does it whine if you rev it out of gear whilst stationary?
If it does its most likely either alternator or water pump belt

1300 miles and still intact

No, as I said, it doesn't do it in neutral. Either rolling or stationary.

sigh oh well I'll keep looking.. [:(][|)]

mine does this. i had the box rebuilt and it still does it. i reckon its a bearing in the transfer box. it hasnt got any worse in 2000 miles. drop your transmission oilsd and check for metal.

Crumbs [:(]

I was going to change my gearbox oil this weekend, seems like I'll also be changing the transfer case oil.

Thanks for the info, I was just hoping it was something simpler.

Cheers,
Steve.
