GearBox DIY or not ? ....

G'day, most of you dont know me cause im new ...very new ..its been 1 week since i bought my R ..and i need to drop the gearbox already ....(strange rattling sounds coming from within)...
This is MY R .http://www.japmobiles.com/gtir/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9004 im not in UK but i got a quote for USD$250 for the removal and overhaul ... what im questioning is the degree of dificulty to remove the gearbox myself ...im very good with tools actually mechanics is my hobby .... i would like if someone could give me a step by step detailed responce in how to DIY the gearbox removal

Dude, $250 is VERY cheap! I think you'd be looking at $600-1200+ from a tuner in the UK. I think this will help http://www.gtiroc.com/gtirocengineswap.doc if you want to do it yourself.

main shaft and input shaft bearings in theory, the pair nearest the 1st and 2nd gear area/bellhousing, easy if you got a puller that fits.[;)]
