EGT Sensor fitment / placing

Obviously fitted in the exhaust manifold but where, centrally in he main collector, or is one of the runners likely to get hotter than the others.

I think pot 4 tends to get hotter than the other 3 so would it be wise to still have it in the collector area but closer to the runner exit of number 4.

Mine is in the main collector.

I have often though about port no 4 as you want to catch the port that gets the hottest first but the question is what happens if it's one of the other 3 that starts to get hot first and the probe is in no 4?

Swings and round abouts me thinks....

mines after the turbo so i can keep an eye on that just as an idication when to give the turbo a break and so i can tell when its cool enough to shut the car down.

you' d need to monitor all four cylinders to give you any kind of idea that there' s trouble in one and what with the lag time it' d probably be too late anyway...

most manifold builders will put it in number 1 if you only want 1 egt bung

Usual to put it in number 1 as its furthest from the fuel pressure regulator
