Colour of engine oil from the bottle

But I did an oil change this morning. Got the old oil out and then when I came to pour in my new oil which is Silkoline 10w-50 Pro S to my suprise it was purple

I've not seen an oil any other colour before other than that brown tanned colour. Purple oil?, whats that all about then. Is it because it's fully synth and they want you to feel you are getting something special?

some can be red too, depends if its race use i believe, "oilman" will answer all your questions on that im sure

Sorry skiddusmarkus, I did think of putting this one in the maintenance section but it doesnt really have anything to do with the R, simply an observation

As an addition, I checked the oil today and it's not really purple any more :?:

It's turned a brown colour like normal which is odd. Must change colour the first time it's heated up.
