Charging battery on the car

If you do this, do you need to disconnect the terminals? If so, does it affect the ecu or anything? ie does it need to relearn it's settings when you reconnect it?

You shouldnt charge the battery with it still connected to the car because there is a risk that you could damage the electronics..only a small risk but still a risk. We use an device called an "Antizap" which goes across the terminals to stop spiking while charging.
You should disconnect the terminals while charging and you shouldnt lose any settings, apart from your radio stations[]
