Carbon Canister Pipe

Hi all,

Cleaned the R today and was drying up in the engine bay whilst having a perusal around stuff and at the bottom of the Carbon Canister noticed the pipe from the bottom doesnt go to anything. Looking at it I would say it should go onto to something does any1 know,

it goes into a little hole in the side of the chassis leg and vents to atmosphire.
