Hi all,
i am getting an intermittent grind/ scrapping noise coming from the rear of the car. It doesn't seem to get louder or quieter at any particular point but comes during slow decelleration. there is no noise during driving or brake application, however i am hopeful it is something small like a sticky caliper. however; has anyone ever heard of the rear diff causing problems/noises similar to these? I notice no feedback in the wheel at all and there is no play in the hub so i cant think its the baring.

I have new pads so i am hoping that will fix it but i am an automotive pescimist

cheers.

I'd check the brakes first. I had a noise which eventually started coming on with the brakes. Pad needed changind and one caliper guide bolt was seized.

Prop bearing is another to consider.

I haven't heard of any diff problems, but don't let that rule it out.
