yep its my latestshed
didnt sell engine in the end adam was going to buy but alot of other stuff didnt look like going so i kept it together car was in a bad state when i got it but its getting sorted slowly now
engine is forged but standard cams and head
3071 turbo at 2 bar dropping to 1.8 at rev limit
800 injectors maxed out and a mongoose exhaust with with twin dump pipe
standard ecu remap by ed as always
and standard ignition system leads plugs etc

goes like a scud and with a with careful tweaks a i think 500 might just be possible

big thanks to ed for mapping and supplying bits and charlie at surrey rolling road

Indeed, finally got a 3071 dynoed at 2 bar. Pretty good power really, I think changing the 2.5 inch exhaust to a 3 inch and cams would definitely make it a fair bit better. Amusingly it made nearly 10 bhp more on the dyno when I removed my wideband meter from the tailpipe!!!

Top result!!
Is the boost dropping near the redline as the turbos running out of puff or did you just have it setup that way?

Turbo was running out a bit, combined with the exhaust being a bit restrictive and also the wastegate spring being a bit weak.. There is more left in the turbo, but its getting very close to what is is ultimately capable of.

doh beat me to it lol
actuator is a bit soft as i modded it a bit when fitting
it does pull another few psi of boost in 4th and 5th on road so i may have a play with actautor if turbo is off over winter see what happens
but turbo flow wise there cant be massive mounts left as its only rated to around 47lb of air

Still a top result,be intresting to see what a 3inch exhaust does to help, also i wonder how much difference an uprated manifold would do over the standard one aswell?

I wonder if we will find out.. I guess it depends on weather allen decides to keep this for longer than the time it takes my laptop to recharge after working on it....

do the maths numbnuts

good result though chaps 8) should've kept the last one tbh as with the liners and a bigger turbo it would've had much more potential for big boostage . Although with the box this one has an advantage,

so really, what you should've done, is kept the other one, brought this one, dropped it off at mine, i could've swapped engine and box whilst you were in spain (without stus hinderance of not doing stuff up ) slapped the other one together, got a dyno on that one, sold it, then had the lined block and box ready for action on a bigger blower..

hindsight is a wonderful thing

( standard ecu remap by ed as always )

This is gonna sound stupid and i apologise for changing the subject but who is Ed and would he be interested in re-mapping my standard ecu. Any info on location and price would be great. Thanks, Matt.

very good results the power band is very high up the rev range kind of makes me not want to go for the 3071 but the 2871 as they seem too laggy to me.

go get the 2871 and waste your fooking time and money then

the 2871 is a peice of sh1t and not worth fitting imho, why do i say this, about 3 years ago si had one on his car, i had a humble 360 bearing t28, i nearly ran up the back of him when booting it and made more power and better torque at the same boost on the same rollers. Personally im yet to see anything wonderful happen with that turbo, hence its a waste of time and money

the 3071 as proved by allen and ed time and time again now is the best upgrade turbo for a 400bhp gtir..this time they've taken it to the next level without anything fantastic being done to the engine as far as spec goes.
