battery relocation?

Im after some advice on what type of cable i should be using.Now iv seen some cable on ebay but i dont know what thickness nor what AH rating i should be buying,

is the 16mm ok or should i be looking at getting thicker poss 25mm

appreciate any advice from those in the know, 8)

I used 4 AWG 20MM and it worked fine, Im guessing most people will tell you to use 0AWG witch is fine if you have £70+ to spend on cable

That battery box looks like cheapo plastic and won't take the weight of the battery.It might be ok if you use a metal tray in the bottom and bolt that to the boot floor then have some rods coming up the sides of the battery and secured across the top of the battery.Thats how I did my 1st on using threaded rod heated and bent at the bottom to go into holes in the side of the tray and then a peice of stell about 1"x1/8" thick across the top of the rods using wing nuts to hold it in place.

do you think its worth paying 40 odd quid for one with built in terminals battery meter and kill switch

Find your local battey specialist, they usually have most things you'll need to relocate your battery.

A small wire will start your battery but the resistance will be high for the length of run. You're always better to have a bigger wire for that reason.

That battery box will be massive compared to the size of battery you'll need (around 60a/h ish).

Whatever you do make sure the battery is solidly mounted or held in place, in a crash it will rip through any battery box you have and possibly hit you on the back of the head, even if it doesn't kill you you might have acid flying round the cabin area which won't be nice when it sprays in your face.

That was my main concern when mounting the battery inside the car, especially as I don't even have rear seats between me and it.Average battery is probably about 15kg or so, even at 30mph if it breaks free in an accident it will smash your skull in.
I bought a drycell odyssey redtop which can be mounted any way up, won't leak and weighs about 7kg.Its behind my seat but is bolted to the vertical bit coming up from the floor with one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Race-Rall...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c5609dc29

The downsides are the batteries are about £100 and don't hold charge that well compared to a normal one(despite supposedly having massively more cranking power).

Only if it rips itself thru the floorpan......which wont happen if you do it properley. plus in a front end accident it is already supported by the seat and at low level too which is safer.

I wanted to put it in the passenger side, but there was something there underneath that made me choose the driver side.Can't remember what it was, maybe to keep it as far away from the top of the fuel tank as possible.
