Maybe if people stopped talking about trying to win it and got on with having fun more people would be interested?
I do agree that lower powered cars should be able to run that way at least 10 slots could be filled and we could see some properly setup cars running on the handling circuit 8) I mean the fwd cars have no chance of winning it overall and most are generally slower than a good 1 bar R over the 1/4 mile, but they still let them run so why not some lower powered cars that can do well on the handling circuit? not everbody wants to watch drag cars and top speed runs all day
I know I for one would like to see what a nicely setup R with some semislicks fitted could do.
well said that man:eek:k:

Still waiting on some shims!
I agree with the Taxi driver.. Getting numbers is usually the issue. A good GT30R with some A048's would be very interesting on the Handling Circuit!

Just need to see what happens with regards to organising a team as i can see Chris Mann only allowing 1 team for the GTiR's which means combining with the Modifiers Club.

As for running the team i can honestly say that i would struggle for time. Andy is sorting the Event Stand etc but I will find someone to organise the cars, shootouts, etc...

Most maybe, but the fastest road legal (AFAIK) fwd's in the UK are doing 10s (Well Andy Nicholl has) I haven't even seen the fastest road legal UK Gtir do that yet. There's alot of fast fwds out there and as this is supposed to be TOTB, then there won't be many slow ones there. (A 1bar Gtir just wouldn't cut it.)

If Andy Nicholls is geared for top speed, I reckon with 800bhp he could do well on top speed and 1/4, he'd just need to sort his handling out and he'd be well up there.

Obviously none of us have a chance against any of the top tuners, or the rich boys that buy their cars in from Japan to run 8sec 1/4s:sad:

Thats why I said MOST ;) and the tuners are in a sperate class this year.
I still think totb is shite though, went once and thought it was complete cr@p, massively overcrowded and even if you could get near you couldn't really see much anyway

Why not set out a Day where people that want to enter TOTB meet at a organized track/air field event
Wasnt that meant to happen last year???????????

It'll probably just be a handful of 400 bhp cars again when all the big power cars are broken/not ready

I know, the point I was making is at TOTB that "most" won't be there, only the fastest ones. (I think there was an N/A corsa there last year running 11s:shock: )
Good on the 2nd point, I wonder how things will work out in reality and agree with the last point, it's grown too big for elvington and gets too over crowded to see anything:?

They tried sorting out a qualification day last year along with numerous track days/events but as usual there was hardly any interest, seems most people just like moaning about it these things rather than actually bothering to attend, seems unless its free and on their door step its always to much bother

Jesus guys!!!!!

we all know that the Gtir isnt going to be able to compete with the 9 second pass or even the 200mph pass!!!!

So like i said and GINGA said...... Why dont we just put 2 or 3 big powerd R's in and have lesser powerd R's for the handling ciruit???

FFS it isnt hard to see is it!!!!

if we get a half decent 1/4 pass and top end pass, and get a really good handling time, we will be one of the top over all point scorers!!!

The evo,s cleaned up with the best over all the one year and im sure they didnt get the highest 1/4 pass or top speed pass!!!

As GINGA said.... I prefer to see the handling stage!!! any soft lad can drive a car in a straight line!!! it takes a different class of driver to do a handling circuit!!!

The R was made for a rally not a top end or 1/4 mile run!!!

Lets have some fun for once and see some gtir's tareing up the handling stage

What would we score if we got 165mph on the top speed run??
What would we score if we got a 10 second pass on the 1/4 mile??
What would we score if we got second or third place on the handling stage??

Add it all up and see where we would of come last year and you can see we wouldnt fare to bad im sure!!

If the power that be would let 5 big power R's and 5 350-400hp R's setup for handling run then it would probably show what the R is about much better 8)
That chap last year (Mo Jamil?) did very well in the handling and probably wasn't even running semi slicks, stick a set of r888's on and you could well see some R's in the top 10

Would be good if we could get the cars in.. I would be up for that sort of team structure but we also need to see what he other club has to offer as i can see Chris Mann just wanting a single GTiR Team again this year...

1) Probably 0
2) Probably 0
3) Not 0, but highly unlikely to place in the top 10 with the standard of Evos and Scoobies, combined with drivers.

Grand total 0 (more than likely:sad: )

The list Lionel put up is well out of date. Maybe 2 years old.

Andy forrest is now 9.1, Tim Websters (unroadlegal) sykline has done 8s, Keith Cowie was off the road all last year due to his new engine failing, but he's going for 8s (reckon ANdy F will be too)

I think the now sold Dragon rx7 has done 9,1 too

Andy Nicholls rover has done 10s already.
That V6 corsa doing 11s could be the NA one I mentioned.

Bear in mind last year I think Simon Norris did one handling run and got the fastest time, a lowish power Gtir would be lucky to figure. Can we hire the Stig for the day?

EDITED to add-- Last years results http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/58991-redline-totb-5-trophy-awards-list-2006-a.html

We have needed a 10.4 1/4 last year to get 10th place. This year it will probably be quicker.

So only 1 R did the handling last year? and in previous years I can only remember Bruce (pimppulsar) ever having a go, so no one really knows how a well setup R would fair? you need more R's trying it to see how well they would fair.
Bracpan? seems to do ok in the sprints against evo's and scoobies etc and the handling course would suit a car setup for sprinting.
