trying to check the ignition timing but cant get it to idle low enough, same old story!!

ive got the idle screw wound all the way in, the timing is on 20degrees at 1200rpm with the tps connected.

any idea how to get the revs down? is riding the clutch the only way?

thanks

At the back of the inlet there is a screw look from the passenger side this may help by adjusting this.

anybody know? just wanna go take another look before it gets too late tonight.

reason i ask is the dizzy has been marked where the timing was previously and someobody has moved the dizzy since then, looking at the dizzy from the passengers wing, it is turned quite alot clockwise.

Presumably you aren't trying to adjust the timing with the tps connected?
The old high idle thing seems to be a problem for loads of people when trying to adjust the timing. I think the easiest way will be to get someone to ride the clutch, probably not the ideal way but you could become suicidal trying to trace the cause of the dreaded high idle...
