Hi guys!

Can somone just confirm that the standard timing is 20 btdc? Also I read on an internet site that advancing the timing on the r 2 degrees has good effects? Does anyone know if that is true?

Cheers!

Yep, 20' is standard. I'd be a bit wary of moving it two degrees, depending on your fuelling, engine set up etc. You would have to get it done on a rolling road to be on the safe side.

I've advanced mine a couple of degrees, but I'm using water injection to stop det.

Advancing the timing on most cars will give you power gains, but it will take you closer to the detonation threshold, so it's at your own risk if you want to blow the engine.

(A very cheap (and dodgy) trick on my last car was to disconnect the boost hose from the ignition ecu, it gave me 1/4 of a second on the quarter mile  and it felt like you'd put a supercharger on as it pulled a damn site harder from lower down, BUT it pinked like a good un before the end of the 1/4mile :? )
