Temp Gauge Problem!.

ive just taken out my after market gauges temporarily till i decide what im going to do with them :roll: but have left all the wiring alone. Now my original water temp gauge instantly goes up halfway even when the engine is cold :roll: obvioulsy i have broken a circuit somewhere along the lines but if thats the case i would have thought it wouldnt work at all! any ideas? Also would it be safe to remove the after market water temp loom completely? :shock:

it has two senders one for the guage and one for the ecu i think.

what probably happening is its shorting to earth somewhere/or has bad earth connection
