Rear pad fitting

Hi all thought I would change my rear pads today er not! how do you push the pistons in and is it ok to to do that? :?

im not sure on the R but on some cars there are grooves in the piston and you can use a scredriver and you have to effectively screw the piston back in?

Edds right, there is a special tool but what you have to do is turn the piston clockwise while pushing the piston back in.

thought there might be a special tool :wink:

my mate just uses a screwdriver :lol: :lol:

You can use long-nose pliers, stick the tips in the grooves and rotate the pliers. A bit fiddly and you need two people, but the special tool is about £30...

Okay i will give it a go what I dont savvy though is after you have screwed
the pistons back in and dropped your pads in how do the pistons release
or do you just pump the brake pedal? :?

I guess you have taken the lid off the filler bottle?
It's best to put an old rag around it incase pushing the piston back causes it to overflow...

Just pump the pedal when finished, dont pull the hand brake up until the pedal goes hard
