you should be ok. a mate got caught doing 120mph. went to court with his solicitor and got away with 6 points and £300 fine which is better than losing his license. if the make of car is wrong then they should throw it out of court. take a good solicitor and you will be fine. good luck !

they havent got a case about you if the car and reg were wrong. its shows that they were looking at different car at the time. therefore write them a letter claiming that you dont know who's that car is. you've never owned or driven it in yourlife. tell them to check police, insurance and dvla records, which will confirm this.

youve got out of this without even needing a solicitor. send in the letter then the cps will look at the evidence and decide they dont have a case against you and drop it.

i got done buy one of those timing things years ago. i argued blue in the face i wasnt speeding and declined to sign the forms at the road side. i stated in my road side statement it was all bollocks basically. the coppers side hung on the fact he said 'he had to do 120 to catch up with me and i was clocked @ 86.54 in a 50zone. ' my arguement 'was he could have done mach 1 to catch up with me but it didnt mean i was speeding, just that he wanted to catch up with me fast' there was no evidence of me on film and he could have pressed the button when ever he wanted to, probably when he was slowing down from 120 to behind me, thats why he probably got 86mph. it was raining, dark and visibilty was poor. i had three witnesses in the car which stated the had not nboticed any excess speed. which you would @ 120 in a 22 year old escort lol.
also before he told me what i was pulled over for, he was asking about the car for about 5 mins and telling me how he always wanted an s1rst when was younger. then told me to get in the car and that i was pulled for speeding.

it was my word against his and they decided not to go ahead with it. always always argue if think there is a chink in the case. you have a case there

If the papers have not been LAID down in court before 6 months is up after the alleged date of the offence then its timed out. (you would need to contact the court) If there reg is wrong there is no case, but check with the court exactly what has been given to them.

Right guys, even more confusion, i have passed all the papers to the lawyer who thinks i have a case to plead not guilty.

I hpi'd the car reg today as i work in the motor trade and it came back as a silver volvo t5 v70 estate which was the car that pulled me initially. So it looks like i have actually been accused of speeding in a police car????

Right guys, some good news, i went to court and got a 14 day ban and zero points with £250 fine. Bloody lucky i say. Nearly got away with it but the prosocution changed the summons to the correct car details 2 mins before i went into court. Would have prob been thrown out of court other wise.

I should hopefully be getting the gtir back in 2 weeks not that i can afford to run it at the moment.

Does anyone no what effect this ban will have on my insurance?

Your lucky mate, I got clocked the same way you did (average speed over a distance) at 112mph in my old Glanza V. I got 3 Month ban for it.

My insuance was effected heavily in the first year, 800 TPFT for a shitty 1.3 corolla, compared to 680 FC for a 200sx LOL

I got caught doin 133mph on a dual carriage way about 1 mile long, they where sitting in total darkness under a bridge with a speed gun pointing out window of the car.
Ended up way 3 month ban and a £300 quid fine, with a CD30 on ma license.
roll on the new year so i can get back out driving again.
Insurance will probably go sky high, but end of the day its my own fault, so just got to get on with it.
