Koni Inserts

Evening,

I have bought some Koni inserts in gtir strut bodies and upon dismantling them have discovered the inserts are for a Suzuki Baleno and a Nissan Maxima, I have heard of this combination before but struggling to find any info beyond that.

I am waiting on the (very helpful) Koni UK representative to get back to me to compare the specs between them and the gti shocks but in the meantime I'm wondering if anyone on here has experience of this combination?

If anyone is wondering why I didn't buy Gti inserts, Koni discontinued them in 2008.

Also the lowering springs on these shocks are unknown unfortunately and I can't find any markings on them, the remaining paint is black, I know my old chassis dynamic springs were black, does anyone remember what colour whiteline ones were? silver?

Thanks.

Gti ones? 86 2463 and 86 2464 is what koni have confirmed for me thus far which are disappointingly discontinued, these were the compress and turn to adjust according to the koni website, seems odd to me though.

The ones I have are the 8610 series which have the top turn adjustment which is nice but if the valving is way out since they were designed for different cars im not sure about having thrm rebuild and pressing them into service. Whoever ran them before must of rated them howver as they are pretty tired now.

They do look exactly the same as mine but that doesn't necessarily mean they are, yeah I would be keen to know what part numbers yours are out of curiosity.

They are pretty close in regards to length and stroke, more bump and rebound all round, perhaps more suited to the heavier Gtir? I assume these figure are maximum rebound.

I don't know much about suspension however I'm thinking it might be worth having them rebuilt and trying them out. Koni will re-valve if required.

These are the part numbers for anyone interested.

GTI Front - 86 2463 (discontinued)
GTI Rear - 86 2463 (discontinued)

Front (from Suzuki Baleno) - 8610 1331SPORT (possibly discontinued)
Rear (from Nissan Maxima) - 8641-1362SPORT (still available)
