Injectors and Electronics

Have looked at the data on this site and i guess 600cc Inj would be ok for 380ish running std fuel pressure, does this sound right? Where can i get them and what sort of price?

Would i need to change the FPR and would i need a Fuel Cut Defencer?

Regarding the Electronics, 'Apexi Power FC' is this something i can fit myself or does it have to be fitted and set up by a Specialist. I thought it might be just Plug & Play :?

I have been told to go for Apexi S-AFC and an AVC-R to go with it, is one of these a Power FC? Is it right that i need both, if it helps keep the car sweet then fair enough.

Cheers Pete

safc is a fuel controller, got rid of mine cos its a tad limited in what it will do, doesn't alter timing at all only fueling. avcr just controls boost, fancy looking but can be a pain in the @rse. Apexi itc, if you can get hold of one will do ignition but then you have 3 seperate controllers and will cost more than e-manage.

E-manage is probably your best bet 8)

power fc is complete replacment ecu so may maybe above what you need, depends on what you want to do with the car

seeing as no one has responded i'll have a go.....

for that kind of power your better off with an uprated fuel pump and uprated fuel pressure regulator with 550cc injectors. 600cc sounds a bit too much for 380bhp.

yes and no to the FCD

it can be fitted by yourself as it is plug and play but would need someone like RC Developments to get it set up right.

If you get the SAFC and AVCR then you won't need a Power FC as it is a piggy back ECU which controls things like fuel, timing, air flow, etc.

The SAFC just control the pulse rate of the injectors and measure air flow. The AVCR is an electronic boost controller and will increase/decrease boost as and when needed.

If you want 380 then i would get the Power FC as the standard ECU won't handle anymore than 360 ish.

Another way round it would to but the SAFC & AVCR then get a Apex i ITC on top to control ignition.

quick reply -

PowerFC is a full replacement ( programmable ) ECU, it comes with a standard map ( copied from the original map ) so you can just plug it in and it works. But you need to get it setup properly by a good tuner or theirs no point using it as it will only be as good as a standard ecu. The apexi gear all comes as seperate controlers for fuel, ignition, boost etc, the powerfc is the whole thing in one box.

Not sure about the injectors at standard pressure, I think they would be on the limit but someone else can answer that one...

You dont need a fuel cut defencer, as the pulsar doesn't have a fuel cut... ( regardless of what any tuners try and sell you, the ecu has no function for measuring boost )

hmmm I've been told the standard ecu/ Safc/ Avcr combo is good for 400bhp with relevant engine/fuelling mods of course.

Hi Kieron,

What i am looking for is a set up which will control and manage the running correctly 'Timing, Boost, Fuel etc'. Several guys have mentioned Power FC but i am not sure exactly what that will manage!

well i've seen cars pull 400bhp with that combo, but speaking to a tuner the other day and he said 360bhp is about the ecu's limits with the Apex i AVCR and SAFC oh and stardd tubby

I think he was trying to sell me a Power FC cos he know i want 400bhp

The car has been a bit lumpy since i bought it, just fitted my last part today which was a Walbro 255 Pump, started it up and noticed a much smoother tick over and seemed to pick up better.

I think Power FC seems to be a good option at present, i am based in Bristol, where would be the nearest or best place to get this fitted and set up?

Cheers Pete

dont buy one in this country from a dealer or tuner, you will pay another £400 at least over what you can buy it for from Japan. Have a look at the group buy for Power FC's.... ;)

Lots of places can set them up, depends where you are

OK, will have a look.

So if i get a Power FC will i need anything else to go with it, do i need to look at the Air Flow thingy by the Air Filter or is that done away with?

Any suggestions on an uprated FPR which make etc?

Have spoken to RC Developments when they turned up at Castle Combe Japfest, Warrington is a long way from Bristol but if they are the guys then fair enough.

Cheers Pete
