Head Gasket

Just found out from Thunder God that it looks like my head gasket has gone on my shed when he started to take the engine out. Am I best just to stick with a standard head gasket or should I go for an uprated one?

May as well be safe and go metal one......

dont forget to change the water hoses on the back of the engine whilst its out

 what is the difference between a standard and say steel 1.2mm h/g!
why are they better? and whats difference between 1.2 and 2.0mm? would have thought thicker the gasket lower the compression! hence less power. someone explain to me please:?

Make sure it is the head gasket first. From what he said to me, it sounds more like your standard oil cooler is leaking. Some tests wouldn't go amiss :thumb:

Done a compression test on the engine before we started stripping it out. Results where 170, 170, 168 & 175. So it does look like the standard oil cooler.
