Exhaust started blowing last night, it turns out that of the 5 bolts holding the turbo elbow to the turbo only 2 were actually there, and one of those was loose :x I thought i may get away with fitting new bolts but it looks as though some of the gasket is actually sticking out so it will need replacing. So, can i take the turbo elbow off of the turbo without actually removing the turbo itself, i still have aircon and it seems everything in that region is far too close together to work on.

Cheers, Charlie

I'd imagine that with the aircon you're going to struggle

With no aircon it can be done, my elbow is custom made, front pipe and elbow all one piece and i've (ex-gtir under my supervision  ) managed, although the rad and front mount where well out of the way.

The gasket will be perished by the sounds of things, have to get a new one. Think its about £15.

yeah not too bad but will probably have to slide the Air Con pump to one side, 13mm crowsfoot spanner socket is good too.

elbow

did mine the other day, had to remove one of the fans (tricky)
unbolt aircon 4 bolts and pull to one side
after removing heat sheilds and down pipe its not to bad
a selection of long reach 13mm sockets and and a manky
13mm ring spanner cut down to about 2 inches to get to the
one up the back
no need to remove rad or bleed aircon

its abit fiddley but fairly easy have patience with the bolt up the back
it took me about 6 hrs at a steady pace

dont forget to use anti vibe wahsers and locking nuts that cut into
threads not nylock available from tyre an exhuast places

if u dont theyll fall off again
