COMETIC Head Gasket 1.2 Nissan SR20DE DET S13 S14 GTIR found this, is it any good?

Have you done a search for "cometic"? - It doesn't tell a good story; they seem to fail too often on GTi-Rs. Maybe they're really for the S13/S14 variant of the SR20 block? It's not a universal part because the dimensions are slightly different and I think the R has larger dowels (or something like that) so you'd need to modify the gasket to fit.
Is a Nissan one no good for you? They've been known to hold-out to almost 400BHP which is more than a lot of people are making.
The next choice seems to the the HKS ones with a good coat of hair spray. Cosworth, Tomei?
I think there's a reason the Cometic ones are so cheap compared to the others.

haha ill stay away then. does the bore size have to be the same? say if my block is a standard 86mm can i put a 87mmone on? or do i have to fine a 86mm one to match to block?

You have to mod it but, the dowel holes need to be made bigger, but a 14mm drill, and make sure its clamped nice and tight around the hole and drill it out and its perfect matey.

Cosworth ones are spot on, just need to drill the dowel holes bigger and away you go
Just make sure your head has been skimmed flat and the block is perfectly flat aswell, so you get a nice flat surface on the mateing surfaces and you will get a nice good seal.
