Apexi Knock counter showing knocks on idling, any ideas?

My Apexi-safc on the R is showing Knocks (KNK on apexi) ranging from 2-12 on idle but on normal driving the knock count remains at 0 (with and without boost). The Knock sensor is the original one. Using optimax fuel and car has been set up for optimax. New engine so I wouldnt have thought there would be many carbon deposits.

Has anyone seen this or know what it could be?

could possibly be a heatshield rattling ? or just caused by the ignition advancing / retarding to keep the idle speed. I wouldn't worry about it bro.

The idle speed is pretty irratic due to the cams so I think you could be right mate, I need to get the car dyno'd properly so I'll check the heatshield out while im at it

do you have a top mount? as if there is a few bolts missing, or it's not cushioned then it will rattle on the engine causing the "knock" that the sensor pics up 8)

Nah, fmic but thanks for the info, something worthwhile knowing :)

I've posted the full spec of the car in the Members R's section so if anyone gets a sec have a read through and let me know if any of the components can cause this

- Bump Steer kit, Strut Braces, Anti Lift Kit blah blah
- Seam Weld frame

- Maintenance - New Struts, Master & Slave cylinder, Clips and stop those bl00dy hoses from exploding off on >1bar boost!



What do you reckon and can you suggest any other mods?

:D Hi mate,i wouldnt panic as long as it goes as soon as you flick the accelerator,you will find that it hasnt been calibrated propely on the initial setup :wink:

Phew, cheers guys.

I'll have a play with the Apexi this weekend. The car needs re-setting up anyhow so hopefully it will cure it.
