Air intake, and plugs

I've been told that my car my run better if I remove the cover for the passenger side grill above my air filter on the bonnet. It's the little one next to the main intake.

Has anyone done this, and know if it's ok to do, and if it makes any differance?


Also does anyone know what sparkplugs the R takes?

You mean the small bonnet vents?
My blanking plates are out and I can't say I noticed any difference. They might let abit more under bonnet heat out, which is a good thing, especially if you have an induction kit. If you have a factory airbox tho I doubt it'll make any difference.
To remove the blanking plate just unbolt the vent from the underneath and remove the plate when you take the vent off, then put the vent back on.
