Advice needed on rust bucket

I am new to the site because just bought my first r but been ripped off, well partly my own fault as it was a blind purchase at 11pm last nite.
The body work is all bad well both rear arches are rusty and both rear quarters have come apart from the sills.
I got carried away when I went to see it because it's got all the expensive extras and mods done to it.
Should I break it for spares because nobody will want to pay what I have paid or should I have it sorted out.

Doesn't cost much to put some new arches on which will the last another 10 years.

And yes it's your fault for buying a car in the dark

Welcome to the site. Mine will be having the arches done in the new year so just get it done, will be worth it in the end.

depends how bad it is if that is what you can see whats going on underneith etc. Depends how much you paid to cut your losses now and break it and sell me parts buy your self a good one or if its that bad is it worth throwing good money at it

I paid 1500 for the car.
I really rushed into buying it, I've had a fee quotes for the body repair which are quite steep between 400-600.
I could buy a proper enthusiast owned r for around 2500.
I've been put off it now.
So most likely I'll be breaking it for parts.

if you're handy then a new rolling shell and swap engine/box in.
if not, id do the repairs.
my quote for repairing rear quarter dent (about tennis ball size), welding 2 rear wings in, dent in side of roof, dentbusting both sides and painting and blending both sides is ~750 (without VAT).
whereabouts are you? i know a guy in notts who is very good and very reasonable with prices http://pro-bodyworx.co.uk just speak to dave

has it failed the mot? or doesnt have one? im not sure you will get much from trying to break it quite honestly

It has got any Mot, by the looks of it it won't pass
Mot because the quarter that joins on the sill is split so not strong jacking point unless you place the jack abit more inside.
To been honest I'm put off by repairing it.
I'll buy an r that is running taxed and tested for less than what my rust bucket will cost me once done.
So I'll be breaking it for parts after
The new year.

wow im glad i live i wales because i paid £250 to get my rear arches done and it looked mint. well for £1500 that was cheap for the car but if you broke it you wont get that monet back as you will have the shitty parts left which you cant move like shroom said

like if i was you i would fine a nice rolling shell, there are a few on both sites with a bit of mods included. if you pick up the right oe then you would have a nice R

You paid 1500 quid and you say it has good spec and plus 400 quid to make the arches mint sounds like a good deal to me? What do you expect with a 20 year old car 400 quid to sort is peanuts.

As has been said, what did you expect for £1500?

£2500 wont get you a minter either, well not one with lot's of modifications anyway.

As mentioned.... you get very little for £1500..... either you build on what you've got or reshell or sell and buy another.
What mods are on the car?
