I bet you’ve got it all sorted and your trying to lure us into a false sense of security! Then on the day, you'll join the track and suddenly this heap of rusty panels and dodgy brakes will come alive and devour all on the track. :lol: ;-)

Afterwards, you’ll come in off the track with a “Cheshire Cat” grin and show us your gleaming 3071 and fully spec’d engine… 8) :lol:

only good thing i can say about car im bringing with me, is that it has a nice gear knob and stereo.
the rest of it including the engine is a true pile of steaming elephant dung (and thats dis-crediting elephant pooh)
you sit in it before track opens, and try to select gear:doh: i drove that pile of crap a 100 miles the other day on the flooded m25 back to mine, and i have to say, its the worse one ive ever bought :lol: ive broke far better!
the only fitting place for this car is the tyre wall, which is probably where it will end up when the dodgy wheel bearing lets go, and the whole lot comes flying off!

give me a wide birth when you overtake me, as im not sure how long il be able to hold it on a straight line, its all a bit hit n miss really:lol: :lol: :lol: a lot of guess work with steering:lol:

I've been home 30mins and now have a glass of JD so all is well with the world again. My wife expected me to be disappointed but its just been too much of an adventure

Was great fun seeing you all and thanks again Rob for your help...... though I did need the RAC who forced on a ribbed undersized belt to get me home in the end but that just added to the fun. The RAC guy was a petrolhead so was cool with the situation.

Look forward to the photos posted by others and the video to prove I was there

What was most disturbing was the invisible Pizza Hut!!! :shock:

Overall it was a great day an enjoyed meeting everyone and getting you know you all a little better.
Big thanks to boby, who helped me out after my car sprayed oil all over my engine bay (and some of the track). Although it was only a simple problem, without his help I’d have been stranded at Cadwell thinking the worst!

Top marks for the RAC man, as Jim said he was passionate about cars and was kind enough to give me a replacement bulb for free after one of my lights failed!
Dogging with GTiR’s is certainly a new experience for me, but Dan seem’d to know much more about it than me, so I let the expert do his thing! ;-)

Cadwell Park, what a great track! Fabulous bends and hill gradients, some super fast turns and a few brown trouser points! There were lots of causalities throughout the day, not just GTiR’s but other people that spun off or had mechanical failures.:?

gotta say a jolly nice bunch of fella's are you all, and was apleasure to meet you's all!
glad i could be of assistance to everybody;-)

fubar andy....very very lucky chap, dropped his entire sump full of engine oil all over the track and pits:shock: , which was probably the cause of so many accidents:lol: :lol: very lucky your car wasnt going home on the back of a low loader, like so many others there! but 1 minute 58 seconds, a time to be proud of fella;-)

jim....thought the makeshift belt i put on would have got you home, but at least it got you some of the way (i should have put 2 on, it may have made it then).
and thanks for the drive round in your monster.
dont under estimate your driving skills jim! thought you were very good8) and with a little more track time, i think you could have put in some very quick laps indeed, and may have been one of the quickest there (good control even when things started going a little sideways) you are a natural;-) well done.

balls of steel :lol: to get in my dangerous car, and want to venture round the track as a passenger, on the first outing is mind boggling, you truly are very brave or very stupid :shock: pity the thing wouldnt go into gear, and the big ends were on the point of throwing a rod through the block, or i think i may have scared you s**tless:lol: but il make sure i do next time when my cars finished:twisted: nice to meet you though, pity you couldnt stay for most of the day!

dan....gonna re-name you the 'boy wonder':lol: probably the youngest one there, and had the most reliable car, never put a foot wrong all day, and put in some respectable times, would have liked to have gone round track with you, if i had'nt been so busy, fixing things:lol:

myself....what can i say! from my point of view, it was a great couple of days, i knew my crapper that i bought with me would'nt last long (although i did think more than 3 laps),
one more lap would have seen the rods smiling at me through engine block:lol: so it wasnt worth me carrying on, as i didnt want to drop a load of oil all over track, so had to make an early retirement:sad: i could'nt drive the car anyway, as i forgot that it had a sunroof, and seeing as im quite a big chap, my head was wedged sideways whilst driving with crash helmet on!
but me and stumo did overtake a tvr, even though gear selection was very hit n miss, and before the real loud knocking noise started:doh:

clare has got some photos, and a good vid of jim over taking the very same tvr, but i will give them to steve pudney or someone to download, as im very dim when it comes to pc's!

thanks to all who turned up and made it a great day, myself and clare were very pleased to meet you all, and we both had a good time and were glad you all made it home safely and with yourselves and cars still in one piece, fit to fight another day:-D
this is what owning these cars is all about, and its good to see them used for what they were initially designed for, well done everyone;-) myself excluded:lol:

I had a good time ragging err driving Dans car round , i'd never been there before (seen it on the TV obviously) but what a fabulous track it is and what a great bunch of people who ran the day too.

3 laps 4 or 5, doesnt really matter, the car will now be going to gtir heaven, with all the other unfortunates that cross my path, a fitting end to such a miserable slow car that could not see the course and distance, it let the gtir world down badly in front of so many scoobies, so deserves a timely death

I noticed in the album are the before (montage of it overtaking) and after photos of that car we saw bouncing out into our path from the tyre wall :shock::shock:

Well done again for not panicing and driving round it.

Sounds like a good day was had in general then. Does anyone have any videos?
I was wondering how the 'Rs would hold up at Cadwell, what with it being such a tight & twisty track, tis great fun to razz around on though! 8)

I found mine to adapt well to Cadwell.

Some of the corners do come up to you rather quickly and judging your braking zone on a blind crest was interesting; but I found it very rewarding to flick the car into e.g. Chris Curve without braking and floor it all the way around to Gooseneck and then hurtle down Mansfield hill. :-D

I was unsure whether the GTiR would be suited to the Cadwell, but after a few laps it seemed perfectly happy and went round like a rocket.

However I did crack my brakes from heavy late braking :? , with that in mind I’ll certainly be paying Cadwell a visit in the near future!
