After 12 years, the R is gone. :(

Well, after a brilliant 12 years of ownership, the R has finally moved on. Marriage and kids ultimately meant I didn't have the time, or truth be told, the inclination, to progress it into the beast it deserved to become. Hopefully the new owner will give it a new lease of life, and give it the...

    Misfire on gentle acceleration

Whoa! Been a while since I started this thread! I'm afraid I don't have any pics (to be honest, it's so long ago, I can't even remember doing the work! Lol).

How long have you had your 'r'?

12 long years I've had the same one. It's been hibernating for the past 5 years though. It's time to shape up or ship out!

Any tricks for getting crank pulley off without removal tool?

Well, the old pulley is off and the new one is on. Couple of screwdrivers and about an hour of gentle persuasion did the job. Got the rear belt back on easy enough, but the alternator belt is proving problematic due to some rounded bolts.

Any tricks for getting crank pulley off without removal tool?

Hmm, not enough room to get between the pulley and the casing behind it.

Any tricks for getting crank pulley off without removal tool?

So, having taken the wheel and inner arch cover off to get access to the crank pulley, the big bolt in the centre of the pulley finally came off with (a lot of) air gun action. However, the pulley is pretty much stuck solid, and I don't have access to a pulley removal tool at the moment. Anybody...

Anybody spot what's wrong in this pic?

Geoff has got it spot on. The crank pulley has slid right off. So, easy to replace? Probably not. Has anyone got a quick how-to? Or is it as easy as take the old one off and bolt on the new one? (it's never that easy with the R)

Anybody spot what's wrong in this pic?

Hehe, yeah, the bolt is slightly rounded. And it would appear that I won't be swapping the alternator over (not yet at least!) because that aint the problem!

Anybody spot what's wrong in this pic?

So, nice and easy. Who's gonna be the first to tell me what's wrong in this pic? And then who's gonna be first to give me a how-to to fix it? lol.

    Laguna front splitter

For those that want an even deeper splitter and even more scrub scrub scrub, I believe the Espace splitter is also a direct fit. If you want them to fit even better, just trim a few notches out of the inside radius on either side.

Alternator replacement - take out from top or bottom?

So, I've got to do an alternator swap, and I was wondering what are people's opinions on what the best way to remove the alternator is? A how to guide would be ideal. Whilst I don't have air con, I do have other items in the way of taking it out from underneath (front exit exhaust) and the top...

What Do I Need for 350 BHP?

To be honest, you have to make a considered decision whether you want to run reliably (and relatively cheaply) at around the 300 - 320bhp mark, or you want to bite the bullet and go for something 400bhp+. In my opinion, the cost inputs needed to get somewhere around 350bhp are not worth the...

Very considerate of you Dave, offering a variety of options! :D

    GTIR Wanted Trade

I may have been out of the buying and selling game for a while, but I don't think you'll get many GTiRs for less than £2,200. Let alone one that is free from rust, or indeed one that is likely to survive the drive back to Hamburg! I may be wrong though. Good luck with the search!

    Help help help

To be honest, even if it's a dog, it's probably worth 2.5k. Personally, for that price I'd expect some things that needed sorting out!
