I think he's refering to the outer casing mate as they sometimes crack!
Especially when the boost has been upped by a fair bit!

Yeah, they are often cracked around the wastegate; it usually doesn't have much effect. Maybe they hold a bit less boost, but usually when they heat-up the cracks close anyway.

snapping manifold studs and the bastard mani bolt, but its a pretty straight forward procedure, just follow the online guide on the other site, i recently did mine following the how to off the modifiers

thanks johnsy,

What did you replace the turbo with? std or hybrid?
not sure if mines on its way out, noticed some oil in ic and the odd puff of blue smoke when changing up. Having said that, i just repaired a small crack in the inlet pipe (between the turbo and air flow meter and its 90% better :-o

Hi Pobody,
Is it a big job to replace the turbo? what are the main things to watch out for?

Cheers
I'm probably not the best person to ask, but if it's like-for-like it shouldn't be that hard.

As johnsy says, the biggest problem will be studs and nuts that have rust-welded tight and either round or shear off when you try to take it off.

I'd take the manifold off with the turbo on it, then swap it over and bolt it all back on.

should have brought mine when I offered...:der: Bobs got it now lol

its easy if you just replace everything, depending on state of them replace the studs and nuts its a bugger otherwise, dont know what the bastard mani bolt is? all were ok for me, its just unbolting things and bolting stuff back on. As that lovely little meerkat would say "simples"
