timing chain

if the timing chain is a bit loose at the top between the cams does this mean that its time for a new chain or that the tensioner is no good?? and how big of a job is it to change the chain?

The tensioner can be changed easy surely? you can see it from the engine bay.

tensioner is easy to change but awkward to get to, same old stroy really!!! 2 10mm nuts hold it on

Not too hard a job, Install it with the clip holding the piston in, then when rotating the enigne will release this clip and it will pop out & tension itself.

theres nothing wrong with it matey!
when the engine stops (turned off) there is always a bit of play between the 2 sprockets as its off load and wont stop on top of compression stroke.
if you put a spanner on the c/s pulley bolt and turn the engine clockwise a little, then the play will dissapear.

no need to touch anything;-)
