Springs and dampers package

Hi,

Im having trouble sourcing a springs AND dampers sports package for the R.

I know a lot of people just upgrade with coilovers but to be honest i dont plan on tracking the car and i think i would just be wasting my money on coilovers.

Can anyone recommend a springs/dampers package? I dont want to just replace the springs, id rather replace both.

thanks

Fox

Last time I heard, people used to use aftermarket (Koni/Spax) Sunny GTi shocks with aftermarket GTiR springs as the market choice is pretty rubbish?

I've not heard anything new recently about this changing; however you could hunt around on Jap auction sites and try to pick up some new KYB fast road shocks?

I thought after searching the forums that the GTiR had pretty specialist struts on the front/back (cant remember which one) so as a result im mid session of sourcing some from bob. I think you can also get inserts still but I dont like the idea of them :/

You'll probably find there's another car which uses the same strut, it's just a matter of finding-out what it is. It may not have the right tabs on it for brake lines etc, but that's a minor problem.

You can do a custom shortened koni set up with b15 sentra spec v inserts (north american model). In the following link you can find info on the CSK setup. http://www.sr20forum.com/driveline-transmission/170794-b13-b14-b15-suspension-information.html

Take only the front b15 sentra spec v koni sports ( yellows) which are externtally adjustable, gut the oem shocks, and place them in. You can use the B15 front insert in the front and rear oem shocks. Then use ground-control coilover sleeves and springs, 8inch length spring up front 10inch length spring rear with a spring rate you're comfortable with. The koni yellows for the b15 can handle up to 450lbs/inch.

You'll make yourself an externally adjustable, height adjustable setup.

Else, if you only want to replace the dampers. Use a b15 sentra spec V koni yellow in front, and a B13 Sentra Koni red rear insert.
Again I would read this thread http://www.sr20forum.com/driveline-transmission/170794-b13-b14-b15-suspension-information.html

So basically unless you are mechanically DIY handy and able to adjust your own shocks then you just have to stick with springs?

so do most people on this forum tend to just settle for springs or coilovers, rather then replacing the shocks as well? sorry to be a pain in the arse but if spring/shocks packages did exist with some manufacturer i was really looking to purchase them :(

i would just search on this forum for bc racing coilovers. this is probably the simplest solution for you.

If you have to go for coilovers do a search for spring rates.

There is some good information about what springs to order with your coilovers so that your ride is more comfortable for the road than having rock hard track springs.

Also if you are still wanting to find some shocks, I’d ring up someone like Demon Tweeks and see what they have in store/for sale. Granted you don’t have to buy from them but at least you know what they have available and then buy from a cheaper provider. :thumb:

I think I've got OE shocks with spax shortened springs (like that when I got it); that's probably the easiest way to reduce the ride height and stiffen the suspension without replacing the shocks or going to coilovers.

quality bit of info from nickr:thumbsup:i work in a large motor factor and can assure you that nothing is available from any manufacturer that will fit the gtir, there are a few part no's that look like they might fit, but only if you don't care about how your car drives:roll:. We're big customers of KYB but even they weren't interested, even when giving them the bloody part nos's, claiming they were JDM only and couldn't help:noidea:. looks like BC's for me !
