Refilling the coolant system

Sounds daft I know but...

How do you correctly refill the coolant system on the GTI-R lol

We took the front rad out yesterday while removing the aircon system. After putting it back in and connecting it all up I took the cap off the rad and filled it to the top, popped the cap back on.

OK but now the bottle on the left, what do I do with that?

There was fluid in it before but none now and there is steam comming out from somewhere in my engine bay

What is the correct procedure in case I am doing something wrong?

This is how i do it, but that doesn't mean its right

Stick heater to hot on the dash.

fill rad, squeeze hoses and keep filling, when it looks full, start engine and stand poised ready to pounce when the level drops  keep adding water/coolant as it drops, try not to let it drop below full level cos air will get back in, give the hoses a squeeze and keep adding it until air stops bubbling. Stick some water/coolant in the overflow

keep an eye on it for next couple of drives.

There is a bleed screw on top left of the stat, pointed at with an arrow, personnally i dont use it cos i'm forever dropping the b u g g er and it winds me up    , it does do the job quicker though, same process but bleed the air out the screw.
