lights turn haed unit off

ive fitted my head unit and thought it was all good till it whent dark and turned my lights on. the power cuts off soon as i put the lights on dipped or normal beam.also it distortes when its on loud or bassy. i had the same set up im my last car and it never distorted on full. any 1 got ideas

There is a wire in the loom that supplys a + feed when you switch your lights on to dim the display on your stereo for night driving, my bet is that you have used this for your earth supply and its prob why your stereo sounds dodgy.
Run a new earth and it will be ok :wink:

Oh, and the R's battery is fcukin tiny and no good for runnin a stereo,
