HU mounting brackets

Where the HU goes in my R is just a big gaping hole (beneath air-con controls, above cup holders), no DIN sized slot for the case to slide into.

Is this normal? Am I missing a bit of the dash?

Or is it a case of fabricating some brackets to hold the HU in place, aligning it with the dash as best as possible?

I'll get some pics tonight.

But for now, think about normal cars where the HU goes. It solts perfectly into the normal HU sizes slot, no need to secure it anymore than that.

But in the R if I put the HU in the slot it would just bang about. Appears as if it needs brackets either side to hold it in place.

You'll need some special brackets matey.
