HKS mushroom filter

i just took mine out to clean it and it has several black lines across it that are all paralell and at different spacing?this is when its lying out flat on the ground.why would this be?it was all green when i bought it.

its oil/dirt

the lines you see are just that, they "marry up" with the cage its in hence hte lines

none of them follow the cage or anything.i know its oil/dirt but confused as to how they all manage to be perfectly straight and parallel.

It'll be rust or discolouration from the cage or the cage has masked the filter so that dust / oil has only gone where the cage isn't.

but there is no straight lines on the cage.

Its not the cage. I change loads of them at work and they have never lined up with the cage lines. Just 1 of those mysteries. Might be oil but unsure. Just change it if your worried for the sake of £20.
